 Village closes facilities in wake of COVID surge Due to a surge in COVID-19 cases, all village facilities, except for the Police Department, 46 Raupp Boulevard) will be closed to the public effective Monday, Jan. 3, 2022, until further notice.   Police reports from a Thanksgiving Day incident that led to attempted murder charges against 52-year-old Eleonora Prilutsky indicate that there were no incidents leading up to her attack on her husband. Reports say that Prilutsky’s 21-year-old son told police that he was sitting in the dining room when he heard his father yell. Reports say he immediately got up and went to the family room where he   observed Mrs. Prilutsky strike his father with a hatchet. The son took the hatchet from Mrs. Prilutsky and summoned police. He also told police that there were no arguments or altercations before the incident.             Reports say her husband, Michael Prilutsky, 58, suffered a “severe laceration” to the back of his head as well as injuries to both wrists.             According to police, neither person wanted to talk about the incident with them. Eleonora Prilutsky, 52, of the 600 Block of Harris Drive faces three charges, including attempted first-degree murder, after a Nov. 25.  Incident. She was also charged with aggravated domestic battery and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. Police did not release details of the incident. Catalytic converter thefts continue -- Several vehicle owners in the 100 Block of Steeple Drive reported their catalytic converters stolen while the vehicles were parked in the parking lot overnight.           ** A vehicle owner in the 1100 Block of Miller Lane said his catalytic converter was stolen from his vehicle while it was parked in the complex’s parking lot overnight. Buffalo Grove police and the Lake County Major Crime Task Force are investigating an officer-involved shooting that led to the death of a man. The incident, the first officer-involved shooting by Buffalo Grove police, took place around 12:30 a.m. Thursday in a parking lot of a vacant church at Radcliff Road and Boxwood Lane. Preliminary information indicates the man, whose identity has not been released pending notification of family members, was a Buffalo Grove resident. At a press conference, Buffalo Grove Police Chief Steve Casstevens (pictured above) said initial information provided to responding officers by 9-1-1 dispatch was that there was a man with a gun in the park.             Casstevens said the caller told the dispatcher that “There’s a dude standing out there and he’s all crazy.” The caller also reportedly said the man was armed with both a .9 mm and .45 mm handgun. Police probe rash of catalytic converter thefts In wake of a series of catalytic converter thefts, the Police Department has issued guidelines to residents in an effort to prevent theft. According to police, catalytic converter thefts generally occur during overnight hours. Residents are urged to park cars in garages and well-lit areas, and call 9-1-1 to report suspicious activity.
